You have now had your apicectomy. First of all, we would like to remind you that the uneventful healing of the extraction site depends on your personal care in the post-procedure period, which we call the postoperative period.

POINTS TO BE CONSIDERED IN POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD

  • Remove your gauze from your mouth after 30-40 minutes and do not replace it with anything (cotton, handkerchief, etc.).
  • Do not eat anything within 2 hours after the procedure, after which the food should be soft and warm. Also, extreme heat and cold can increase the chance of bleeding.
  • Avoid actions that increase negative pressure in the mouth, such as sucking and spitting, pushing or blowing your nose, or talking loudly. Otherwise, you may encounter bleeding problem.
  • It is natural to have bleeding in the form of leakage, smell or taste of blood in your mouth within 48 hours, and there is nothing to worry about.
  • If you are a smoker, it is recommended not to smoke within the first 48 hours following the operation. However, if this situation is unbearable for you, do not smoke for the first 6-8 hours and try to keep the number of cigarettes you will smoke to a minimum.
  • Use the drugs recommended to you by your doctor, without delay and on time, as described.
  • There may be a slight or moderate decrease in mouth opening towards the 24th or 48th hours following the operation. Do not worry. This is a response of the muscles to the operation and will usually return to normal within 3 to 7 days on average.
  • After meals, gargle with a solution that you will prepare with 1/2 glass of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, four times a day, at times of your own choosing, next to your prescribed medical mouthwash.

If you encounter an abnormal situation other than the points we have tried to express above, or if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your doctor.

REMEMBER YOUR SMILE IS IMPORTANT TO US.
